Mobile data in Germany
Germany has reliable 4G coverage in cities and along major transport corridors, though rural coverage can be weaker than you'd expect for Western Europe. Your eSIM connects through Telekom, Vodafone, or O2. Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, and Frankfurt all have strong connectivity.
- German train Wi-Fi (Deutsche Bahn) is famously unreliable. Your eSIM is essential for long ICE journeys.
- Berlin and Munich have excellent coverage including U-Bahn and S-Bahn stations.
- Google Translate is helpful — while many Germans speak English, menus and signs in smaller towns are German-only.
- The Autobahn has good coverage on most stretches, useful for navigation apps.
Germany is included in our Europe regional plans. If your trip includes other EU countries, check those for better value.
