Iceland's Nova and Síminn networks run 5G in Reykjavík and 4G along most of the Ring Road, the Golden Circle and the south coast. The Highlands and F-roads have no coverage at all.
- Check vedur.is for weather and safetravel.is for road conditions daily — both need data, both can save your trip.
- The Ring Road has good signal in the towns and most of the way between them; expect gaps in the East Fjords and the north-west.
- Download offline maps before any Highland or Westfjords drive. Landmannalaugar, Þórsmörk and the F-roads are dead zones.
- Northern-lights forecast apps and hot-spring booking sites work fine on 4G.
Fuel stations are unstaffed outside towns and card-only. Data helps you find the next one before you need it.
